Christian Oliver, the ‘Speed Racer’ actor, was killed in a plane crash.

According to the authorities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Mr. Oliver’s two young daughters and a pilot also lost their lives in the incident.
Christian Oliver, a prominent actor in cinema and television, together with his two children and a pilot, tragically lost their lives on Thursday in an aircraft crash on their journey to the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, as confirmed by the authorities.



According to a statement from the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, Mr. Oliver, aged 51, along with his daughters, were the sole occupants of a single-engine plane that was flying from Bequia, an island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The plane crashed into the sea at noon.

The authorities have reported that Mr. Oliver, his daughters Madita Klepser, aged 10, and Annik Klepser, aged 12, as well as the pilot, Robert Sachs, all lost their lives. The remains were retrieved by fishermen and divers and were handed over to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard, as stated by the police in a Friday statement.



The aircraft had complications and rapidly descended into the water immediately after departing from J.F. Mitchell Airport in Bequia, as stated by the authorities. No more details on the cause of the incident, which is now being investigated, were provided. According to an email from Caprice Crawford, Mr. Oliver was born in Germany and held dual citizenship in both Germany and the United States. According to her, he opted to use the name Christian Oliver instead of his full name, Christian Oliver Klepser, for his professional endeavors. Additionally, he split his time between Los Angeles and his native country.



Mr. Oliver collaborated with Steven Soderbergh in the 2006 film “The Good German,” alongside esteemed actors George Clooney and Cate Blanchett. Among his other endeavors, he participated in the film “Valkyrie” alongside Tom Cruise in 2008 and lent his voice to the production “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” in 2023. Recently, he completed filming a recent motion picture titled “Forever Hold Your Peace” and shared a picture taken on the film set on social media around one week ago.

Earlier this week, Mr. Oliver shared his final snapshot “taken from an idyllic location.” Mr. Oliver was collaborating with filmmaker Nick Lyon to co-produce “Forever Hold Your Peace,” a narrative centered around the theme of marriage fraud. During an interview on Friday, Mr. Lyon said that Mr. Oliver had sent him a text message on Thursday morning, informing him of his intention to come back to the United States to work on a scene on Friday.
