In his writing, Bill Speros says, “This one’s for the Birds.”…” Both species of birds have been experiencing difficulties as of late. Back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Cowboys and the 49ers have been experienced by the Eagles (10-3). They have finally completed a grueling schedule stretch that includes games against the 49ers, Dolphins, Bills, Chiefs, and Cowboys (twice). However, they are finally out of this nightmare schedule. A string of four consecutive losses, including two against the 49ers, has caused the Seahawks, who are at 6-7, to slip out of the postseason race. This is going to be Seattle’s final stand, especially if they end up losing. Considering that 4.5 points is equal to 7, we do not recommend Philadelphia as a road favorite in this situation. In eight out of nine games against teams who have a losing record, Philadelphia has failed to cover the spread. Despite this, oddsmakers continue to set their prices at a premium. According to what Tyler Sullivan has written, “The Eagles have zero margin for error if they want to reclaim the No. 1 seed and first place in the division, beginning with this upcoming trip to Seattle, where they are six-point road favorites.”
This is because the Eagles have lost to both the 49ers and the Cowboys over the course of the past two weeks. As a road favorite, Philadelphia has a record of 3-1-1 against the spread so far this season. The Seahawks have a home record of 2-3-1 against the spread so far this season. There is no doubt that the condition of Geno Smith, who was out for the fourteenth week due to a groin issue, will be something that should be monitored this week as well.

ARLINGTON, Texas – The NFL standings say the Philadelphia Eagles remain among the league’s best teams and remain a Super Bowl contender. But Seth Joyner sees something else. “The truth is, it’s a bad football team,” former Eagles linebacker Joyner, now an analyst, said on the JAKIB Sports postgame show following Sunday night’s 33-13 loss at the Dallas Cowboys. “They fooled us. They fooled us through 11 games into believing they’re really good …Joyner, of course, lived it as one of the all-time great Eagles. At the same time, it is easy for anyone who is passionate about Philly football to get caught up in overreacting to all of the things that went wrong at AT&T Stadium … not to mention all the things that went wrong the week before at home in yet another blowout loss to the 49ers.
Philly now has consecutive loss by 20 points or more, albeit to the other two elite teams in the NFC. The Eagles have allowed 30 points or more in three consecutive games. And they are 28th in the NFL in points allowed.
“That sits at the crux of it all,” Joyner said. “Today was the clincher for me, because understanding what’s at stake, there’s no way you can show up and (be good and) put that out there.”
