The 84-year-old film director and five-time Academy Award winner expressed his admiration for his daughter Sofia Coppola's most recent film
Priscilla, on Instagram on Wednesday, following the film's successful premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Monday.
Francis stated in the caption of a trailer for the film, "I am more than proud of my daughter @sofiacoppola and pleased by the reaction to the premiere of her film
@priscillamovie garnering such a long standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival @labiennale this past weekend!" Sofia Coppola is the director of the picture.
According to Variety, the audience in Venice, Italy, gave the film, which was based on Priscilla Presley's memoir Elvis and Me and starred Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi as Priscilla and Elvis Presley,
respectively, a standing ovation that lasted for seven minutes. Cailee Spaeny played Priscilla, and Jacob Elordi played Elvis.
(Because the SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement required that the production take place in Canada with a non-AMPTP company,
the SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement was issued for the A24 picture during the strike.)
