On Wednesday, October 11, at Music City Center, the 53rd Anniversary Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala brought out the biggest names in country music.
During the induction ceremony, Dolly Parton and Eric Church were present to give Keith Urban the coveted accolade.
Keith, 55, said of the professional turning point, "I like feeling a part of a through line,.
where I've come from, how I got to be where I am, but mostly, I've looked forward."
The audience was stunned in shock by Dolly's unexpected arrival, and Keith literally dropped down on his hands and knees to show his respect for her.
During the final moments of the event, Eric, who is 46 years old, gave a heartfelt performance of Keith's song "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me."
Dolly, who was 77 years old, glistened in a silver costume that included cuts along the bust and the legs.
Although Nicole Kidman, Keith's wife, was not there at the ceremony and therefore did not receive a portrait, she has never failed to express her pride in her husband.
