Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant recently received some erroneous criticism when some media members mistook his victory celebration
against the New Orleans Pelicans for a gun celebration. The celebration was really the "Rock Ya Hips" dance, as confirmed by the dance's originator, which has resulted in a lot of backlash against media
Much of the criticism has been directed at media outlets such as Barstool Sports, which have been inconsistent in their responses to sportsmen performing this identical celebration.
When asked about the fallout, Morant simply thanked Memphis for having his back and left it at that:
Morant has handled this nicely, especially given that he has every right to be unhappy and point out the inconsistencies of these major media outlets.
Morant has primarily left it to his fans, knowing that he has their backing. It's terrible that Morant had to deal with this so soon after returning from his 25-game suspension, but he's prepared to deal with it.
The Grizzlies are focused on winning games and getting back into the postseason contention after a disastrous start to the season.
Memphis has reason to be optimistic now that Morant is back.
