Lakers Rumors: Zach LaVine Trade Considered 'Unlikely' Despite Bulls Interest

The Los Angeles Lakers have long been linked to Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine, and while that hasn't changed, it's unlikely that the two-time All-Star will end up in Purple and Gold.

According to NBC Sports' Kurt Helin, "the Lakers remain the name most often mentioned with LaVine," but insiders say a deal for him is "unlikely."

According to NBA expert Marc Stein, while the Lakers may be interested in LaVine, he does not match the team's recent approach to roster development.

"Could the Lakers' recent struggles — they're 2-5 since winning the In-Season Tournament — and the possibility of losing offseason signee Gabe Vincent (left knee)

for up to two months prompt the purple and gold to emerge as a LaVine suitor?" That would be a break from the Lakers' prior preference

for surrounding LeBron James and Anthony Davis with guys on lesser contracts in order to maximize flexibility," Stein said.

Instead of LaVine, the Lakers are rumored to be looking for another player to improve their backcourt. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Atlanta Hawks combo guard Dejounte Murray is "a potential target" for Los Angeles.

The Lakers pulling together a trade for Murray, according to Helin, "would be a challenge." Los Angeles has been linked to veteran point guard D'Angelo Russell, but Atlanta is more likely to be interested in acquiring rising rookie player Austin Reaves.
