The Memphis Grizzlies' situation is only getting worse. Following the stunning announcement that Ja Morant
would miss the rest of the season due to a tear in his right shoulder requiring surgery, Memphis will now be without Marcus Smart for an extended length of time.
The organization reported that Smart is anticipated to miss six weeks due to a finger injury, severely weakening the Grizzlies' depth this season.
Smart suffered the injury in a blowout victory over the Dallas Mavericks on January 9. During the third quarter, after making a 3-pointer, Smart discovered that his ring finger appeared to be dislocated
He returned to the locker room and was eventually ruled out for the rest of the game.
It's another major setback for a Memphis club that appeared to be on a roll after Morant returned from his 25-game ban.
Morant led the Grizzlies to a 6-3 record in nine games, showing flashes of life after starting the season 6-19.
But, with his injury and now Smart, it appears like this season may be entirely wrecked before it even gets started.
