News about the Miami Dolphins: Why Was De'Von Achane Not Active in Week 12?
De'Von Achane of the Miami Dolphins missed his fifth game in six due to a knee injury on Friday, and his participation for Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders is very much in doubt.
So, what's the story with the Dolphins' dynamic running back, who has only played three snaps since October 8?During his Monday press conference, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel provided some context.
Achane practiced sparingly last week and was questionable to play against the Jets on Black Friday, but he remained sidelined.
"It was more of all [the] things involved, all variables, knowing the team that we're going against, knowing short weeks and what you kind of need to be able to orchestrate a victory in those weeks," McDaniel said.
"[The Jets are] always physical, always quick. And there's always some uncertainty on both sides of the ball, in my opinion, because you're taking a full work week and chopping it almost in half.
So, I didn't think it was very smart for him to put his best foot forward if he was uncertain about things like that, and I felt comfortable about what Raheem [Mostert] and Jeff [Wilson] are bringing to the table."
Playing Achane, McDaniel noted, "didn't seem prudent," and he's not sure he'll be ready to go this week, either.
McDaniel said Achane will be "day-to-day" this week, implying another late-week decision.
